Jonathan Rose Companies has appointed Brandon Kearse as president, managing partner and chief investment officer, the mission-based real estate firm announced Jan. 13.

In his new role, Kearse will drive strategy and oversee operations across acquisitions, recapitalizations and investor relations, while continuing to advance the New York City-based firm’s goal of creating environmentally sustainable and socially responsible housing, per a news release shared with Multifamily Dive. Founder and current president Jonathan F.P. Rose will remain CEO, chair of the board of managers and chair of the investment committee.
“It’s been over a decade since I first joined Jonathan Rose Companies, and I continue to be inspired by the team’s enduring commitment to innovation and impact in the affordable housing sector,” said Kearse in the release. “I’m honored to step into the role of President, and I look forward to building on Jonathan’s remarkable legacy as we continue to push the boundaries of environmentally conscious, socially minded development.”
Kearse joined Jonathan Rose Companies in 2015 as an associate director and previously served as partner and co-CIO, per the release. He has played a pivotal role in the expansion of the firm’s impact investment platform and in the management of a portfolio now comprising nearly 20,000 affordable and mixed-income housing units across the country.
Before Jonathan Rose, Kearse worked at Summit Partners, a $15 billion growth equity fund, where he sourced and analyzed investments in the technology sector, per Rose’s website. He also previously served as a senior business analyst at McKinsey & Company, where he consulted government agencies and Fortune 500 companies on a range of strategic and operational issues.
In addition, Carolyn Au was named managing partner, and continues her work as chief operating officer, chief compliance officer and chief risk officer. According to the firm, the shifts represent a next phase of growth and institutionalization for Jonathan Rose’s national affordable housing and impact investment platform.
