Over the last few months, several major apartment firms have announced plans to add new business lines or expand into new regions.
On the construction front, Charleston, South Carolina-based Woodfield Development has turned its eyes westward as it enters Phoenix and Las Vegas. Another longtime apartment builder, Dallas-based JPI, returned to the Southeast years after leaving.
Apartment firms didn’t just announce geographic expansion plans. They also moved into new businesses. For instance, TruAmerica Multifamily announced that it had partnered with Manulife Investment Management on a $1 billion affordable housing joint venture that will be named Anchor Point Residential.
