Closed apartment transactions may have gotten off to a slow start in 2026, but that doesn’t mean significant deals aren’t happening.
In many cases, the same companies that made a major purchase in 2025 are at it again this year. Earlier this month, affiliates of Harbor Group International entered into an agreement to acquire an 11-property portfolio, totaling 2,436 units, from REIT AH Realty Trust for $562 million in cash.
AH Realty Trust wasn’t the only REIT to wind down its apartment platform this year. In February, Veris Residential agreed to be acquired by an investor consortium led by Affinius Capital in partnership with Vista Hill Partners in a $3.4 billion all-cash transaction.
